Although thyroid cancer is a relatively rare malignancy, the chance of being diagnosed with thyroid cancer has risen in recent years and is the most rapidly increasing cancer in the United States, tripling over the past 3 decades. Public awareness of effective strategies for preventing, diagnosing, and treating thyroid cancer needs to remain a priority to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with the disease.
